PEOPLE 3K open house, exhibit of Fremont artifacts and forum on climate-smart food systems

Special Event

A public open house at USU Uintah Basin for PEOPLE 3K, a working group of international scholars focusing on "climate-smart food systems." On display will be the Leo Thorne collection, which is an incredible collection of local Fremont artifacts collected in the 1920s and 1930s. That will be followed by an open discussion about climate-smart food systems with a panel of scholars and local stakeholders including Scott Chew (Uintah County representative and local rancher), Betsy Chappoose (Ute Tribe cultural liaison), and James Taylor (USU Uintah Basin associate vice president).

Helicon West featuring a presentation by Michael McLane

Special Event

Helicon West presents Michael McLane. McLane holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Colorado State University and an MS in Environmental Humanities from the University of Utah. For the past seven years, he has served as the director for both the Center for the Book of Utah Humanities and the Utah Humanities Book Festival. He leaves Utah this summer to begin a PhD program at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. Free, uncensored, open microphone and Caffe Ibis coffee.
