Brown Bag Series: Dr. Julia Gossard

Panel Discussion/Presentation

“Witchy Women: The Long History of Witchcraft in Western Civilization”
Bring your lunch and listen to Dr. Gossard speak on the more memorable moments in history where women have been cast as witches, examining the gendered and patriarchal dimensions of each. She will even look at a few “spells”- just make sure to bring your broom, travel cauldron, and a dead man’s toe! Coffee and tea will be provided as well as Halloween Cookies!

"Music Goes to War: From Parisian Music Halls to the Trenches of World War I"

As part of the University's commemoration of the Armistice Day Centenary, Dr. Susan Grayzel of the Dept. of History and Dr. Regina Sweeney will make a presentation and lead a discussion on the popular music of France during WWI at a meeting of the Alliance Française de Salt Lake City.
