About This Minor

The Ornamental Horticulture minor at Utah State University's College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Department of Plants, Soils and Climate, offers students a solid foundation in the principles of ornamental horticulture.

Students will learn about soil science, pest management, woody plant materials, and various other aspects related to the design, installation, and maintenance of ornamental landscapes.

What You Will Learn

Students in the Ornamental Horticulture minor will gain knowledge in soils, waters, and the environment; pest management principles and practices; woody plant materials; herbaceous plant materials; residential landscapes; arboriculture; landscape irrigation design; construction methods for residential landscape installation; plant propagation; turfgrass management; greenhouse management and crop production; and urban soil management and reclamation.
