Web Development:

Web development ranks among the most highly demanded information systems skills, as a web presence is essential for virtually all companies. Modern web applications have evolved from brochure websites for informational or marketing purposes to full-scale platforms that support commerce, data exchange, and systems interoperability. The web development emphasis within the IS major prepares students to design, develop, and deploy web applications through coursework in web interface design (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), advanced server-side application development, API development, and e-commerce strategy.

Data Engineering:

Job opportunities in Data Engineering are expanding rapidly as companies increasingly rely on data analytics and data science to inform strategy. Data Engineers make it possible for businesses to engage in the advanced analytics and insight generation that data science produces. They do this by creating organization and industry-wide access to clean, reliable data at scale with sound data infrastructure and architecture. In the Data Engineering program, you will develop the skills in programming, database management, and data mining that employers need to support their analytics objectives.

This emphasis will give you motivation, knowledge, and experience to pursue a career in information security.
